Ben Hillman jets off to the Portuguese island of Maderia to help Emma and Shane from Cornwall find their dream holiday home.They have a budget of £200,000 pounds to buy a place for them, Emma’s two teenage daughters and their dog Callie. About the area

It’s around a four hour flight from the UK to Madeira – and nowhere on the island is more than an hour’s drive from its main airport. Madeira lies off the western coast of Africa, 250 miles north of the Canary Islands, and as well as being the birthplace of footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo, this striking island is known for its rugged coastline and stunning scenery, as well as the grapes which make its world famous dessert wine.

More than a third of its 300 thousand population live in the capital Funchal which is home to the lively and popular Sao Martinho district right by the sea.
