Ben Hillman is rushing to the aid of semi-retired NHS worker Tara from Manchester, who’s longing to buy a holiday home for her and family and friends on the beautiful Greek island of Crete. She’s looking for a 2 bedroom property so that her two grown up children can visit whenever they like. With a budget of £90,000 and Tara’s firm friend Ali coming along to help, can Ben find her a property to please everyone?

About the area

Flights to Crete take around three and a half hours from the UK and with two international airports and plenty of flights all year round, it’s pretty easy to get to. While Zeus the god of sky and thunder may have been born high up in the Cretan mountains he clearly has little effect on the climate here, as this place enjoys Europe’s best weather with virtually no rain during its hot summers, and very mild winters. To the east of the island you’ll find a bit of everything. The coast is dotted with popular tourist towns, and inland there are some gorgeous hideaways where you can taste traditional food, and amble around the craft shops.
