Ben Hillman heads to the inland towns and villages of Almeria province in southern Spain to help househunters Candy and Mark find the perfect holiday home. The couple, who are planning to get married in six months’ time, are looking for a rural retreat to escape to whenever they can. For their budget of £75,000 Ben has five attempts to find them their dream place–but will any of them result in an offer?

About the area

Around a 2 and a half hour flight from the UK takes you to Almeria, in south east Spain. The area has a stunning coastline that attracts tourists year round, but further inland it’s far quieter and much more traditionally Spanish. The landscape is truly stunning–a series of valleys twist around mountains and rolling hills–perfect for hiking and exploring–and there are countless fields of olive groves and almond trees. Set amongst this backdrop are villages, such as Lubrin, as well as small hamlets filled with charm in the heart of the countryside. Despite all this, inland Almeria remains off the main tourist trail which has a big impact on what you can get for your money.
