About the area

A 4 hour flight from the UK takes you to the Portuguese island of Madeira, in the Atlantic ocean. Madeira’s natural landscape is dramatic and absolutely stunning – with a series of now-extinct volcanoes, mountains, and deep valleys. The beaches here are mainly black sand and pebbly, but still a great place to unwind, and the crystal-clear sea is perfect for water sports and a spot of whale watching too! The Capital is Funchal – a pretty city full of charm and there are other smaller towns and more remote villages dotted across the steep hillsides. The combination of it all makes Madeira a very popular choice to buy a holiday home.
