Kefalonia, Greece - A Place in the Sun

Kefalonia, Greece, Ben Hillman

Ben Hillman jets off to Kefalonia in Greece to help Jenny find the perfect holiday home for her family. Helping Jenny with this house hunt is her younger brother Richard, who also plans to come and stay regularly. For their budget of £250,000 they want a 2 bedroom house with plenty of outside space to enjoy the beautiful weather. Can Ben help them find the perfect property?

About the area

Kefalonia is situated off the west coast of mainland Greece–the flight time from the UK is about 3 ½ hours and nowhere on the island is more than an hour’s drive from the airport in the capital Argostoli. Kefalonia has a long history–over the years it’s been ruled by the Romans, the Ottomans, the Venetians and the French before becoming part of Greece in 1864. Nowadays the only invaders are holidaymakers, who more than triple the island’s 35,000 population in the busy summer months. Despite that, it’s a really chilled out place which rarely feels too busy and bustling–there’s always room to relax on one of its many beaches.
