The Dordogne is the third largest department in France and a hugely popular spot with tourists, with over 3 million flocking there each year. Many of those are Brits, as most direct flights to its main airport in Bergerac take under 2 hours. Dordogne is named after its river which stretches for 300 miles, passing through idyllic countryside and quaint villages.
