Ben Hillman flies to the Canary Island of Gran Canaria to help Tom from Scotland find the perfect holiday home. To help him in his search, he’s brought along his son Alan, who works with him in the building trade, and would love to visit for family holidays. With a budget of £120,000 Ben has 5 great options lined up, but will Tom love any enough to put in an offer?
About the area
Gran Canaria is the third largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, with a population of almost a million. Direct flights to its airport Las Palmas take around 4 hours from the UK. It’s an island with an unbelievably varied landscape: in fact a third of is UNESCO protected. The north is known for its volcanic beaches whereas much of the centre is green and agricultural. And there are of course the famous sand dunes in Maspalomas. Today’s search focuses along the southern coast where you can find the biggest beaches. Most have gorgeous golden sands and calm shallow waters. The resorts here have grown increasingly popular with tourists and the promenades, cafes and restaurants are bustling with visitors enjoying the glorious year-round sunshine.
