Retired Vicar Annie has decided to pack up living in the UK and move to the glorious Canary Islands for all year round sunshine and warmth. She’s chosen Lanzarote to be her new home and has brought along grand daughter Mollie to help in the search. With her £150,000 budget Lee Juggurnauth has lined up 5 impressive options but will any impress enough for her to make an offer?
About the area
Lanzarote is the most northern of Spain’s Canary Islands, just 80 miles off the north coast of Africa. Direct flights there take about 4 hours from the UK. Well known for its volcanoes, parts of the island further inland look almost like a lunar landscape. On the other hand its spectacular sandy coastline has long been a firm favourite holiday destination - especially for us Brits. Today we’ll be house hunting around the southern resorts, where buzzy and pretty towns like Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca can be found. Here are charming mixtures of wide sandy beaches filled with sun loungers, or quieter peaceful coves with lapping waters. There’s also a great selection of places to eat, drink and shop in the sunshine – of which, there’s lots of – thanks to high temperatures blown in from the Sahara Desert.
