Laura Hamilton is in Southeast Spain, helping best friends of 50 years, Jan and Chris, find a holiday home that works for both their families. In fact, between them they have six grown up children and five grandchildren – so it could be a challenge to please everyone! Jan and Chris have a budget of £150,000 to buy their dream property, and Laura has five great options lined up – but will they fall in love with one enough to end up making an offer?
About the area
To get to Almeria in the south of Spain you fly to Almeria airport which takes about 3 hours from the UK – then it’s around an hour’s drive to the town of Arboleas where we’ll be basing our search. Almeria has more than 130 miles of stunning coastline and is one of Spain’s most fertile agricultural regions despite having the most hours of sunshine and lowest rainfall in Europe. It’s a very popular area with hikers, cyclists and lovers of the outdoor lifestyle and is steeped in history – dating back to the Bronze Age. Arboleas is historically a farming town, though in recent times it’s become more and more popular with second home owners and people moving out of Spain’s main cities.
