Jasmine Harman jets off to the Balearic Island of Menorca to help primary school worker Lisa, and Neil who is a company director, find their dream holiday home. The family have holidayed in Menorca for decades and absolutely love the lifestyle, scenery and climate. Now they’d like their own place to make even more memories. Jasmine has 5 options for their £250,000 budget but will any of them be perfect?
About the area
Menorca is an island off the east coast of Spain. Direct flights there from the UK take about 3 hours. It feels less built up than some of the other better known Balearic islands - like Ibiza and Mallorca. In fact the whole island has been declared a protected UNESCO reserve so much of it does feel unspoilt and bursting with history. Inland the vast swathes of agricultural land produce much of the island’s famed wines and olive oil. The coastline stretches for 270 miles with four main marinas and over 100 beaches – some gorgeous and sandy, developed for tourists with beachfront restaurants and cafes. Whereas others feel more hidden and rugged. With all this plus average summer temperatures of 29 balmy degrees I can see why it’s a spot Lisa and Neil are desperate to spend more time.
