About the area
The area of Mazarron on the Costa Calida developed from its rich history of tuna fishing, and since the 1960s tourism here has boomed too. It’s a 90 minute drive south from Alicante airport to which direct flights from the UK take under 3 hours. It’s still an area that’s mainly popular with Spanish holidaymakers so there’s a nice traditional feel here amongst its pebbly beaches, rugged 20 mile coastline and al fresco cafes and restaurants. The heart of Mazarron really lies in its port, where you can take boat trips to spot dolphins, see the historic lighthouse and enjoy people-watching in the sunshine.
