Laura Hamilton jets off to the Greek islands to help Kevin and Sally from Berkshire have who been together for eight years. With their combined seven children now all grown up, they’ve decided to move to the beautiful island of Kefalonia. Their budget is £200,000 for a property with enough space to rent out rooms to guests so they can still earn an income. Laura has 5 great options but will any of them be just right?
About the area
Kefalonia is situated off the west coast of mainland Greece – you can fly there in around 3 ½ hours from the UK – and everywhere we’ll be looking at on this search is within three quarters of an hour’s drive from the airport in the island’s capital Argostoli. Kefalonia, which is home to around 2000 Brits among its thirty five thousand strong population, is one of the more laid back of the Greek islands and is particularly well known for the dozens of stunning beaches along its 150 miles of coastline. But there’s much more here than just sun sea and sand – the island is steeped in history, dating back to the Stone Age – and has inspired stories from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin all the way back to Homer’s Odyssey written in the 8th century BC.
