Lee Juggurnauth heads to Denia in Spain to help restaurant manager Aykan and engineering company manager Cathy from Wicklow. They first visited Spain a couple of years ago and fell instantly in love with the relaxed lifestyle. Now their children are all grown up, they’re ready to take the plunge and buy their dream holiday home that hopefully could be a permanent home in the future. Lee has 5 great options for their budget of £200,000, but will any be perfect enough to make an offer?
About the area
Denia is found halfway between Valencia and Alicante on the Costa Blanca. Both have international airports with flights taking around 3 hours from the UK. It’s a coastal town with a population of almost fifty thousand – although this more than doubles in the summer months, with tourists flocking to its 10 miles of sandy shores and gentle waters. It’s packed with history too – the castle dates from the Spanish Civil War and is perched on a 60 metre high mound overlooking the town. The Montgo mountain provides Denia with a dramatic backdrop and it sits within a Natural Park covering over five thousand acres of beautiful countryside.
