Ben Hillman jets off to the Greek Islands to help Nick and Denise from Sussex who first holidayed in Corfu over 20 years ago. They fell in love with the island and since then they’ve been back many times, and call it, a slightly warmer, home from home! Now with their kids grown up, they’ve decided to buy a holiday home here that they can enjoy with all the family. They have a budget of £300,000 and Ben has 5 great properties lined up – but will any result in an offer?
About the area
It takes around three hours from the UK to fly to Corfu which lies in the Ionian Sea just off the North west coast of Greece – and everywhere we’ll be looking at on this search is an hour’s drive or less from the airport in the island’s capital Kerkyra – or Corfu Town in English. Corfu, which is known as the Queen of the Ionian islands, is also the birthplace of our late Queen Elizabeth’s husband Philiip. It has a full time population of around a hundred thousand people which more than quadruples in peak season as tourists flock to enjoy the island’s 115 beaches along its more than 130 miles of coastline! Despite its popularity with holiday makers, it’s fairly undeveloped in terms of holiday homes, so when it comes to property on the island, there isn’t a lot to go round!
