Jasmine Harman jets off to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands to help health care scientist Roger and drama teacher Paolo, who live in the West Midlands, find their dream holiday home. They have a budget of £65,000 and want to find a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment close to the beach on their favourite island. Jasmine has 5 great options but will any be good enough for them to put in an offer?
About the area
Fuerteventura takes about 4 and a half hours to fly to from the UK – and Caleta de Fuste, where we’re going to be basing our house hunt, is just 15 minutes drive from the airport. Size wise Fuerteventura is the second largest of all the Canary Islands after Tenerife, though it’s the smallest in terms of population, and even though there’s more than enough to do here on or off one of the island’s more than 150 beaches, it’s not such a party capital as some of the other Islas Canarias. It’s very popular with water sports enthusiasts, particularly wind and kite surfers as it can be a bit blowy on the island at times, though the nearly three thousand hours of sunshine each year do help compensate for that.
