Therapists Bernie and Vernon, who first met 15 years ago, are searching for their perfect holiday home in Northern Fuerteventura in Spain’s Canary Islands. They love travelling, and although Vernon’s never actually been to Fuerteventura before, the pair are convinced it’s the perfect place for their holiday home. Sara Damergi is tasked with showing them the best of what their £150,000 budget can get them, but will any of them hit the mark?
About the area
Fuerteventura is thought to be the oldest of Spain’s Canary Islands and flights to its international airport take under 5 hours from the UK. The whole island has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 2009. Inland, it’s flat and desert-like terrain often doubles as the Sahara in Hollywood films. Today, our search focuses around the beautiful sandy beaches in the north - particularly around Corralejo, which has 7 miles of fine sandy coastline as well as pretty sheltered bays. Almost half the town’s population are from overseas and these expats soak up the sunshine amongst bustling cafes, restaurants and shops.
