About the area

Tuscany in central Italy is a well-known favourite with tourists, with a world renowned food and wine scene, stunning landscapes and picturesque villages brimming with history and culture. Today’s search will be focusing around the mountainous Lucca region of Tuscany, about an hour inland from the coast. The closest airport is Pisa, to which direct flights from the UK take under 3 hours. Dotted around the hills here are beautiful towns like Bagni di Lucca and Barga. Bagni di Lucca is a spa town bursting with history. Royals and Nobles used to flock here in the 19th Century because of the famous springs, which were said to have therapeutic waters. With Sting, Sylvester Stallone and Jodie Foster all owning homes in the area, Barbara and Butch would be in very good company if they bought here.
