About the area

On the westernmost side of Crete, Chania is a wonderful place to visit. With a charming medieval town, some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, intriguing castles and a unique natural landscape, this region is full of amazing places to see!

Flying directly to Chania is possible! The International Airport of Chania (CHQ) serves daily domestic flights from Athens and a few weekly flights from Thessaloniki but is also connected with many international airports around Europe during the summertime.

Direct international flights take off from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, and many more countries! The airport is located on the northern side of Chania, a few kilometres away from Chania Town. You can reach the airport by car, bus, and taxi. Chania is also connected to Athens via ferry. To get to Chania from another island (Kythira or Antikythira) or the mainland (Gythio), the only option is the ferry.
