About the area

Coimbra is a city and region, best reached via Porto airport an hour and a half or so drive away, that welcomes flights from all corners of the UK. It’s an area loaded with history dating back to medieval times when the city was Portugal’s capital for some one hundred years. While the glorious countryside here is as laid back as can be - dotted with towns and villages filled with relaxed and often very traditional bars and restaurants - the region also has a coastline with Figueira da Foz situated at the mouth of the Mondego river a popular spot for tourists with plenty going on.
