Rona and Chris from North Shropshire have both travelled all over the world, and worked in far flung places, like Brazil and Singapore. Now that they’re both retired, they can’t wait to buy their very own holiday home – and they can’t think of a better place than Languedoc in the south of France! Jean Johansson has been tasked with finding the best properties around for their £150,000 budget but will she get it right?
About the area
Stretching from the Spanish boarder to the Rhone Valley there’s a great mix of coast and countryside here. With five international airports, and train options taking less than eight hours from London, it’s pretty easy to get to and that’s a good thing as aside from wine, holidays are what this area is best known for, with some great spots taking advantage of the regions glorious stretch of Mediterranean coastline. Away from the beach the countryside villages are fabulously French and feel like they’ve been plucked from a bygone era. While the busier locations like Bezier and Pezenas are packed with artisan shops and incredible French restaurants.
