Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria - A Place in the Sun

Puerto Rico, Laura Hamilton

Laura Hamilton is house hunting around the seaside town of Puerto Rico on the island of Gran Canaria with Tina and her son Nick from Bolton. They’re looking for a two-bedroom apartment that Tina can retire to and enjoy the all-year round sunshine. With a £120,000 budget at her disposal, Laura has scoured the market to find five great properties, but will Tina fall in love with one enough to put in an offer?

About the area

Gran Canaria forms part of the Spanish Canary Islands. Found in the Atlantic Ocean, flights arrive in just over four hours from the UK.
This sun kissed collection of islands, lying just off the coast of Africa, have volcanic origins, giving the landscape a rocky and mountainous quality, perfect for the keen explorer. Or, if you prefer a more sedate life, Gran Canaria is famed for its good climate and collection of man-made sandy beaches. Created in the 1960s, the town of Puetro Rico sits in the mouth of a large valley, which shields the coast from the island’s winds. The town’s beach was created using sand bought over from the Sahara, and remains one of the most popular resorts for those seeking to spend their days in paradise.
