Charente, France - A Place in the Sun

Charente, France Jasmine Harman

Simon and Lawrence have been coming to the peaceful Charente region of south west France for nearly 20 years, and know the area inside out. Now that they’re looking for a holiday home there, they’ve called on Jasmine Harman to help them find their perfect property. For an ideal budget of £100,000, they’re looking for a traditional-style property with enough storage for their mountain bikes. But Jasmine could be facing an uphill struggle to impress such a knowledgeable couple, so will any of the five great options she’s got lined up have them racing to put in an offer?

About the area

It’s a peaceful part of South West France that’s less than a two hour flight from most UK airports or a seven hour drive from the ferry port at Calais.

Best known for its laid back towns and villages that offer views of the vineyards that fill the countryside here, and provide the famous grapes used to make Cognac. It’s also the sunniest place in France away from the Mediterranean coast with on average 40 percent more sunshine than the UK.
