Rob and Lisa from Treeton near Sheffield are no strangers to Lanzarote. As a family they’ve been visiting for over 12 years and feel that now’s the perfect time to buy their very own holiday home in the resort of Playa Blanca. They want a 3-bedroom house with a swimming pool and have called on the help of Jonnie Irwin. Jonnie has 5 fantastic options lined up for their £280,000 budget, but will he find them just what they’re looking for?

Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Why buy here?

Around a 4 hour flight from the UK brings you to the beautiful Canary Island of Lanzarote. Whilst its north and central National Parks are known for their stunning volcanic landscapes, we’re house hunting around the island’s more beachy south, in Lanzarote’s second largest resort, Playa Blanca. It’s transformed from a sleepy fishing village into a holiday favourite packed with hotels bars and restaurants – and despite celebrity endorsements from the likes of Justin Bieber and Penelope Cruz, it’s retained a sense of peacefulness. As well as having one of the nicest ports in Lanzarote, Marina Rubicon, it also has some fantastic beaches with golden sands and crystal waters. All perfect for lapping up the average 300 days of sunshine a year!

Two-bed villa near the Rubicon Marina

We’re kicking off the search close to the gorgeous marina area. It recently had a complete facelift and the brand new promenades are perfect for afternoon strolls. Our first property is a semi-detached two-bed apartment with a pool and garden. It has an open plan living area downstairs and the master bedroom benefits from a balcony. y, fitting atable and 4 chairs, with great views of the large communal pool. Inside is an open plan living space and kitchen. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Three-bed villa in Costa Papagayo

A short drive inland takes us to our second property in the residential area of Costa Papagayo. The Costa Papagayo area in general is a very attractive area for both holiday makers and residents due to its proximity to the urban centre of Playa Blanca but being able to enjoy at the same time more peace and privacy, being away from the hustle and bustle. This property is a three-bed, two-bath villa with a pool, outside seating areas and a huge games room! It's no longer on the market, but you can see more properties from the agent here.

Three-bed villa in Costa Papagayo

We’re sticking in Costa Papagayo for the third property, but heading to the west side, five minutes closer to Playa Blanca centre. It's just a fifteen minute stroll or £3 taxi from all the town has to offer, including countless restaurants, shops, a library and a pharmacy. This property is a two-storey, three-bed house with a pool, patio and front garden. It has an open plan living area, a utility room and a large first floor balcony with mountain views. For the next property we’re heading three miles west to the southern tip of Playa Blanca, to an area known as Faro. The gorgeous Pechiguera lighthouse is found here, overlooked by the Montana Roja, a red mountain volcano. There’s also a great choice of restaurants, bars and shopping. This three-bedroom, three-bathroom detached villa has a garden with a pool and benefits from sea views. It also has a dual aspect living room plus an upstairs balcony. Our final property is in Playa Flamingo, an upmarket spot with fab restaurants and a great beach and aquapark. This area is enjoyed by holiday makers who want to enjoy nature and peace and quiet, but still being able to walk to amenities and town centre. This modern villa has outside space at the front, around the side, and at the back with a pool and patio area. It's got three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is located in a secure gated community.
