Finistere

Area info

Reached from the UK via a flight, train ride or ferry crossing, Finistere in Brttany is the most Westerly tip of France and its names translates to ‘end of the earth’ or ‘land’s end’. The region has a wild and rugged feel thanks to its fjord-like coastline and ancient forests. It has a strong local identity with many local food and drink producers as well as traditional festivals held amongst its historic towns and villages. Indeed, the regional dialect Breton is still spoken in the region. Apart from the coast, the main attractions are the Huelgoat Forest, the towns of Quimper and Morlaix and the mountains of Le Monts d’Arrée for hiking and exploring.
