The region of Lazio in Italy has crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, making it a very popular holiday destination. It was originally the heart of the Roman Empire and there are many ancient sites that have world heritage status. The coast of Lazio is mainly composed of sandy beaches, punctuated by the headlands of Circeo and Gaeta. In 2018, Lazio region was one of the Italian regions with the highest number of Blue Flag beaches The climate along the Lazio Coast is warm and temperate – a typical Mediterranean climate (at least four months averaging above 10 degrees celsuis), with hot and dry summers and mild and wet winters.
