Corralejo, Fuerteventura - A Place in the Sun

Corralejo, Fuerteventura Laura Hamilton

Retired company director Bob and ice skating coach Sammi, from Lancashire, have been together for 14 years after a mutual friend suggested they would make a great couple. They have a budget of £150,000 to buy a holiday home where their combined four children and five grand children can come and stay – and want to buy in a place that’s stolen their hearts since they first visited it six years ago. Laura will be using all her skills to find the perfect place for a husband and wife who are not always on the same page when it comes to properties.

Corralejo

About the area

Fuerteventura, which is the oldest of all the Canary Islands, takes around four and a half hours to fly to from the UK – and Corralejo, which is right on the northern tip of the island, is about half an hour’s drive from the airport. Corralejo has transformed from a sleepy fishing village in the 1970s to a busy and bustling holiday destination today. It’s popular with water sports lovers, particularly wind and kite surfers. . The population of Corralejo is roughly half locals and half foreigners, with a large British community enjoying the sun, sea and surf – and the town’s many other attractions. In Corralejo, the summers are warm, muggy, and arid; the winters are cool and dry; and it is windy and mostly clear year round.
