South Alicante

Why buy here?

Southern Alicante on Spain’s south eastern coast is really easy to get to – you can fly into both Murcia and Alicante airports in about two and a half hours from the UK, then it’s about 45 minute drive. Alicante has more than 150 miles of coastline and we’ re focusing our search in and around the city of Torrevieja, a former salt mining and fishing village turned hugely popular tourist destination, especially with Brits, who make up around ten per cent of its 100,000 strong population. The areas shot in this episode encompass two different municipalities: Torrevieja in the North East and Orihuela on the South. Torrevieja has a population of 85.000, the third largest in the Alicante province and an extension of almost 72 Km2. Orihuela is a very large municipality of 384 km and is is the largest in Alicante. The main difference between the two areas in terms of Real Estate is the council tax cost. Orihuela Costa is generally 40% cheaper than Torrevieja.
