Axarquia, Spain - A Place in the Sun

Axarquia is a beautiful, relatively undiscovered, region in Southern Spain, with a sub-tropical climate, spectacular landscape with mountains & valleys and over 30 miles of coastline with 15 miles of golden beaches. Axarquia is a word of Arab origin which refers to the position to the east of a place. It is the easternmost region of Malaga. Axarquia retains all the charms of ancient Spanish countryside life. The area is an ideal location for those in search of tranquillity and a taste of old fashioned Spain.

Torrox is a sizeable large village/small town some 4km inland from its coastal offshoot Torrox Costa. It is situated at the foothills of the Sierra de Almijara mountain range in the region of Axarquia. This detached villa has its own pool and a roof terrace with great views into the mountains. Competa is often called the pearl of the Axarquia, and many people consider it to be the most beautiful of the white villages in the region.
