The new series of A Place in the Sun: Home or Away? airs tomorrow evening on Channel 4 as Jonnie and Jasmine go at it again, pitting the ideas of home or away to intrepid house hunters and vying to find the best properties to suit their new lives, either home or abroad.
The fifth series kicks off to an exciting start with couple Jayne and Hendrick homeless and jobless after taking voluntary redundancy when the company they worked for went into liquidation. After 18 months without a home to call their own, the couple were in a race to find a place, still undecided to whether to move to Italy or stay in Hertfordshire.
With the five properties they own all rented out and having spent their time split between hotels and holiday apartments the couple were on a search for the ever-elusive "perfect house" with a budget of 380K. And with a wish-list as big as their budget it seemed Jonnie and Jasmine had their work cut out for them.
In Hertfordshire, the couple wanted a place with character and space in an already crowded county. Nothing easy considering its population of over a million. Alternatively, their dream home in the breathtaking Le Marche region of Italy had to comprise of a pool, outbuilding, a large kitchen or diner with a pizza bread oven in a traditional stone-built farmhouse with three or four bedrooms and an en-suite master, in a rural location but not cut-off and within a half an hour's drive of the coast and mountains.
The new series of A Place in the Sun: Home or Away? will appear on Channel 4 on April 1st at 8pm or catch-up with the episode on 4oD
