There are no shops in the village but there is an excellent bakery and restaurant in nearby Fanjeaux, which is about a 10min drive. The popular market town of Mirepoix is 20mins away. Here you'll find a weekly produce market and a good selection of shops and restaurants. There's also a very good English-speaking doctor here. There's a large supermarket at Castelnaudaray and an excellent farm shop at Villasavary. There are also a couple of beautiful lakes nearby that are perfect for cooling off in during the summer months.

The UNESCO-protected medieval city of Carcassonne is 30mins away, whilst Toulouse is about an hour. Both these cities have airports and there's a TGV station at Toulouse. The house is 20mins from the auto-route which means that one can be in Spain in around 90mins.
