PESCOLUSE MARINA
The Marina di Pescoluse renowned is known for its beautiful white and fine sandy beaches and low and transparent seabed, and crystal-clear water that has nothing to envy to the Caribbean landscapes; not by chance one of the seaside resorts present has chosen as the Maldives of Salento which over the years has ended up being commonly used to indicate the entire town. In the territory of Salve (Lecce), in a fund called Terramascia, in 1930, it was discovered casually, by some peasants intent on hoeing up land to use it to use the system of a vineyard, a coin treasure. The important peculiarity consisted of - originally - about a hundred silver coins coined in several Greek and monk cities, dating from the second half of the 6th century BC. The finds are kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto. Of the faithful copies of the same, however, you can admire it at the Documentation Center of the Territory of Salve (Palazzo Ramirez). The most recent currency of the treasure is a quadrogate of the mint of Rome dating back to the mid- III century BC, that is, at the time when the process of Romanization of the Salento peninsula began, which then culminated in the 1st century BC.
