It offers a variety of local amenities as well as beautiful churches, a restaurant and café bars.
From its elevated position the village overlooks Belmonte Marina, a 10-minute drive away and it provides all local amenities: grocery shops, butcher, bakery, café bars, post office etc. together with a beach front that offers a variety of beach bars and lidos and a diving school during the summer months. There is also a mountain biking school offering excursions either with your own bike or bikes for hire. Tomato farming is of great importance for the area and the local tomatoes, large and tasty are called “Pomodoro di Belmonte” have received the PDO (Protected Designation Origin) status. Dried figs are also of high quality and well-recognized specialties: in 1910, the first producers were from Belmonte and are still producing excellent products today!!
Amantea is a 10 minute drive south and is a busy town with all the modern amenities: variety of shops and boutiques, café bars, restaurants/pizzeria, gelatarias, pharmacies, post office etc. this blends well with the charming old historical centre where you can meander through the traditional narrow streets and enjoy the true feel of Calabria. The marina beach front offers beach bars and lidos and a small Acqua Park, children’s play area and a variety of seasonal activities. It also hosts many festivals and fieras during the year and a daily market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables.
The SS18 and the Autostrada A3 are easily accessible from where you can explore the many traditional Italian villages and the spectacular National Park of La Sila which offers year-round activities such as hiking, pony trekking, quad biking and in the winter months skiing. At Reggio Calabria is the Museum that houses the Bronzes of Riace among many other articles of archaeological interest.
