Full Description

Adorable two bed apartment, all on one level, on the first floor of a pretty stone farmhouse, with independent entrance and with private terrace and garden. Situated on the small piazza of the medieval village of Castelnuovo, a place that has remained unchanged over time, with a panoramic view of the green hills of the Val di Cecina from this typically Tuscan hilltop village.

Going up a staircase that ends on a small balcony you enter the living area with kitchen, then you pass to a large hallway, two bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower and a closet. The house is in excellent condition, is equipped with working systems and services, the central heating is powered by geothermal energy, a clean form of green energy which ensures significant energy savings. In the kitchen there is also a wood- burning stove to heat and create a lovely atmosphere in the autumn evenings.

Going down the stairs on the left we have the private garden with terrace and pergola, totally isolated from the view of other houses, with a wonderful outlook and spacious enough to grow vegetables, herbs or seasonal flowers. Also on the street level we have a large cellar, formerly used as a "refrigerator" for wines and cheeses, now very useful for storing bikes, garden equipment, wood and much more.

The property is on the first floor, accessed up the external staircase to a private entrance, and all the rooms are on one level. All the services are connected and the house is in immaculate condition. There are many windows all opening on the panoramic countryside. Parking is available just 200 meters from the house. .

Val di Cecina an easily accessible area which offers a combination of history, culture and excellent cuisine. Castelnuovo Valdicecina is located on the border between the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Grosseto; a small, hilltop town unique for its shape as a bunch of grapes, with a layout of a medieval town, built on sandstone and full of enchanting, tiny piazzas. Coming from the medieval Castelnuovo, the town streets are flanked with small shops and local cafes, bank, post office. Modern life and amenities are all within walking distance.

The countryside extends from the mountains to the east, through the vineyards terraced on the low hills and down to the Mediterranean scrub with pine woods and brooms to the west. The golden hills are planted with orchards, vineyards and olive groves. There are hot thermal springs with spa baths and steam vents which puff through the hills. The hot waters are piped to the little towns and villages so the homes are heated virtually free of charge. This is all away from the busy tourist locations and yet within easy reach of the cultural centres. Castelnuovo is the place to be for nature enthusiasts: from the town, there is a variety of different nature trails through enchanting historic sites, such as a bridge crossing the Pavone torrent or the scenic vista of the Val di Cornia and the Gulf of Piombino.

The whole of Tuscany is on your doorstep. You are in easy reach of the famous hilltop towns of Volterra and San Gimignano, just 30-40 mins to the coast and there are wonderful day trips to be had in Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena. The international airport at Pisa is within an hour's drive.
