Dartmoor couple Maria and Andy love Cyprus.  They met on the island 20 years ago, got married on the island and are now planning the big move to live their permanently. They have given Jean Johansson a budget of £140,000 to find their dream future home in Famagusta. Moving with them is their much loved cat Keo, so the property must work for all three. What's the appeal?

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and in Greek mythology was the birthplace of Aphrodite – the goddess of beauty and love. And beauty is truly all around with rocky bays, gorgeous golden sands, and crystal blue waters - perfect for swimming and water sports. We’ll be house hunting in the east of the island, around the city of Famagusta. It’s closest airport is Lanarca, to which there are direct flights from the UK taking 4 and a half hours. It’s a relatively new tourist spot with a growing number of bars and restaurants, and a great selection of beaches. The world renowned party town of Ayia Napa is also in the centre of this region so you can be sunbathing by day and dancing by night.
