This traditional Schist house, which is externally rendered. sits in a very quiet mountain hamlet.
It is only a few minutes from the village of Benfeita with river beach and café; and only 8km from the ever popular town of Côja where you will find everything for your daily needs, supermarkets, cafés, bakeries, bars, restaurants and medical center.
Coimbra is approximately 1 hour away, and Porto 2 hours.
The house can be entered at either the 1st floor level or at the lower lever. Entering via a gated entrance to the first floor you pass through a double glazed door and are welcomed by a bright open plan space with gorgeous exposed schist walls, correctly finished. Wonderful views from the large double glazed windows to the lounge area immediately draw attention. The main floor is open plan with a modern fitted kitchen with centre Island and granite work tops. Above the kitchen is a good space mezzanine level with a multitude of uses. The living space is bright and airy with cathedral ceilings and a wood burning stove. Off the lounge you will find the bathroom with shower and access to the first of 3 double bedrooms. This is a large double bedroom with an independent wood burning stove and double glazed window opening to the courtyard area at the rear of the house. From the kitchen there is also accessed via a polished stone staircase to the lower floor. The main room here is currently open and has double glazed windows and an independent door to the front of the house. A simple partition wall could be installed to make this the 3rd bedroom if required, with independent access. To the right is a large double bedroom again with double glazing, this room is currently sound proofed and would make an excellent music room. A double glazed door remains in situ and again can be utilised as an independent entrance from the front of the house. The lower floor could therefore be utilised as two independent studio rooms.
Outside, from the main living space you will find 3 independent storage spaces, one was possibly an outside bathroom/kitchen and could be reinstated. To the rear of the house at this level is a small private patio, a good pace for relaxing with a book. Stone steps take you into the raised garden space where you will find fruit trees and established plants and a covered BBQ where you can enjoy wonderful vast views in a very quiet setting. The two outbuildings have flat concrete roofs and would lend themselves to creating additional roof terraces.
At the end of the garden and accessed from the road at the front of the house is an additional Schist building in ruins, partially covered with the original stone oven on an Urban article. This could be utilised as a garage or garden space or could possibly be reinstated as living accommodation with the appropriate approvals.
Overall, this is a nice Schist house, rarely found with open plan and large rooms and a garden, in a very peaceful hamlet in a great location, with excellent views providing peace and tranquillity.
